‘THE SONGWRITER CLUB’ – A POSITIVE NEW COMMUNITY ON THE IRISH MUSIC SCENE.
The Songwriter Club is coming to Cork for the first time with it’s first meeting taking place on Saturday 27th July from 2pm – 5pm at The Old Oak, Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork.

The club will be hosted by Eva Corbett local singer/songwriter plus special guest Keith McLoughlin from the Dublin Songwriter Club.
Keith set up The Songwriter Club with Dundalk singer/songwriter Sinead McNally which has been running in Dublin since October 2011. They get musicians to meet up and to chat about the music industry, the lives of songwriters and much more.

The idea behind the club is to bring songwriters together every couple of months to chat about all sorts of songwriting stuff, share ideas, set up collaborating groups and also to have fun getting to know each other. There will also be special guests from different areas of the industry. All songwriters, whatever the genre, whatever the standard are welcome to attend.

The purpose of ‘The Songwriter Club’ is to form a new music community whereby songwriters, performers and independent professionals connected to the music industry can meet regularly to discuss issues of importance, share experiences and information and become a voice for ‘independents’ in the industry.

The Songwriter Club is a non-profitable organisation and contributors operate on a voluntary basis. The meeting will have a number of special guests who wish to share their advice, their experience or their business ideas.

The club, which began as an idea over a conversation between Dundalk singer/songwriter Sinead McNally and community radio presenter Keith McLoughlin have been holding meetings in Dublin since October 2011. They take place every couple of months. Singer/songwriters and professionals of the industry come along to The Teachers Club on Parnell Square West Dublin. We have had guest speakers from IMRO/RAAP, music managers, studio producers, PR people, to popular songwriters sharing knowledge and helping music artists to find out what they need to do to be successful in the business. We also get people to get up and sing there own songs and have got people into groups to write songs.

It’s not possible for everyone to come to Dublin so we have been asking people to set up the club in their local town so we’re pleased to have this one happening in Cork as well as many others.

Together and with the support of many others involved, Sinead and Keith hope that ‘The Songwriter Club’ will encourage and support positive changes for independent artists and bands throughout Ireland. It is a non-profitable organisation and contributors operate on a voluntary basis. Each meeting will have a number of special guests who wish to share their advice, their experience or their business ideas.
